Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The Racing Ralph's lightning-fast profile makes it the ideal rear tyre for dry courses.
- With the Addix Speed compound, you'll have a tyre with a very low rolling resistance which also lasts a relatively long time.
- Thanks to the SnakeSkin fabric on the casing, you have excellent puncture protection all over the tyre.
- Available in multiple widths. 2.25 inch provides a good mixture of weight, speed and comfort.
- TLE (TubeLess Easy) technology makes the tyres easy to make tubeless with 90ml of latex sealant per tyre.
- The Racing Ralph is less suitable for muddy terrain.
- Tubeless sealant should generally be topped up every 3-6 months.

The low knobs are placed closely together on the Schwalbe Racing Ralph, ensuring a lot of grip and acceleration, and the Addix Speed rubber compound ensures a very low rolling resistance. This makes you very fast, as well as protecting you from flats and cut tyres. All this makes these Schwalbe MTB tyres the ultimate, fast all-rounders for cross-country.
The Addix Speed compound can be recognised by the red stripe across the tyre. As this compound for cross-country racers has very low rolling resistance, it will make its rider fly over the trails. And taking this low rolling resistance into consideration, the Addix Speed is very robust and durable.
Super Ground
With the Super Ground carcass, Schwalbe has further improved the SnakeSkin construction. This lightweight and flexible carcass has a SnakeSkin layer from bead to bead which offers full protection against cuts and punctures and keeps the weight down. The ultramodern Super Ground can therefore be used in many different disciplines, from XC to All Mountain. The Super Ground is the ultimate carcass for a combination of low weight, suppleness and puncture protection. So you'll have nothing to worry about when you're racing along the fastest trails.
Tubeless Easy
Schwalbe are firmly convinced that tubeless riding is the tyre technology of the future. And so they ensure that all mountain bike tyres bearing the TLE mark are optimized for riding without inner tubes. The construction of the carcass also makes the fitting process easier.

A waste of money
Ordered a new set (Racing Ray and Ralph). The Racing Ralph was already flat after fitting. I did try to fix it, but to no avail. I sent a message to Mantel straight away with photos. But after two weeks, I’d still not received a reply. And I needed the tyre before my holiday… so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a new one (again with sealant). In Italy, after my second ride, I got a puncture on a gravel track. The tyre was set to 1.8 bar in tubeless mode. Absolutely rubbish. And after three weeks, I finally received a (standard) email from Mantel asking for various things (such as photos) that I’d already sent ages ago. I replied straight away, but once again, no response has been forthcoming. It’s a shame; I often order from Mantel, but their customer service is painfully slow.

Good tyre for the rear of a mountain bike
Having completely worn out my previous tyres (including the Racing Ralphs), I can really tell the difference – I can rely on the grip more again

Great back tyre.
Contrary to what the experts say, I find this tyre perfect in all weather conditions. And even when I then bike on the road, this profile gives exactly the speed you want.

Super rear tyre
Super tyre with excellent performance and grip
4 / 5
Good tyre
Use on emtb with this tyre rear and thunder burt front. A thunder burt rear wears out too fast, This set is mainly on the road. For rougher work I use second set of wheels with racing Ralph./ nobby . No problems , 29 inches, with mounting.
